Cavaliers Lebron James Switching Roles To Point Guard With Usa
By Marshall Smith

The FIBA's world basketball championship held in Japan is the major event in sports these days, with the USA as the favorite to go with the trophy, as this year's teams are tougher, the role of each one of his players is essential in order to accomplish their goals.

James Lebron is just one of those examples of essential pawns on the chess board, averaging 12.5 per game, he is third among his team mates in scoring, behind Dwyane Wade (20.0 points) and Carmelo Anthony (19.7). He is also second on the team in assists with 3.5 per game that is fifth among the tourney's remaining players.

Playing a different position to what he is used to, Lebron says he is, and has never been concerned with his numbers, "I can go out there and take no shots, but if I can rebound and assist and play defense and help our team win, that's what I'm going to be, James said.

I still think that's the best thing he does -- his presence, especially the passing, Coach Mike Krzyzewski said. He and Wade are incredible passers.

Without slowing down in the scoring field, he is making his teammates better just by being in the court, If anybody knows my game, they know I don't play like that, I play just to help our team win. Whatever our team needs for us to try and win ballgames, that's what I'm going to do, James said after

a Team USA workout this week.

One can see Lebron is truly happy with the experience of being coached by Krzyzewski: It's been the greatest thing, for one, obviously never being able to have a Division I college coach or a big-time college coach because I didn't go to college, you get a chance to fulfill that dream, James said.

Lebron previously stated that he is definitely having more fun this time than when he was coached by Larry Brown on the 2004 Olympics, where his team earned a disappointing bronze medal.

Some say that USA's teamwork has made them look unbeatable many times; ending with the skepticism that has always surrounded highly paid NBA stars regarding the difficult it is for them to put their egos aside. Even rivals praise their team commitment: They take the shots when they're open, they don't force anything and they share the ball well," Australian guard C.J. Bruton said.

Overall, James Lebron is not concerned with stats at all, either did it worry him when signing up for a three-year commitment to Team USA, through the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

I committed, for one, to have fun, it's been everything I expected and more. James said.
